ArmInfo. With the financial assistance of the French bank CIC, Spike Company built the latest generation greenhouse in Armenia on a 20 hectare area. The new economy was visited on the eve of the acting.
Minister of Agriculture of the Republic of Armenia Ignaty Arakelyan, acting Minister of Economic Development and Investments of the Republic of Armenia Suren Karayan, as well as Ambassador of France to Armenia Jonathan Lacote. According to the press service of the RA Ministry of Agriculture, the new greenhouse farm is equipped with the most modern technologies.
Ignatiy Arakelyan, speaking about the activities of Spike, noted that the company has a solid experience in the production of agricultural products in greenhouse farms, rapidly increasing capacity, cooperating with international partners. "In my opinion, in the development of greenhouse economy in Armenia, the second stage begins, observing of these processes, others will naturally follow this example, given the favorable climatic conditions in Armenia, there is an unlimited market for production with the benefit of agricultural products", Ignaty Arakelyan noted, adding that in the first quarter of this year the volume of agricultural exports from Armenia doubled.
Ignaty Arakelyan informed that this year it is planned to introduce a new leasing program for the construction of small greenhouses, which will allow the family farms to provide high income.
Acting Minister of Economic Development and Investments of the Republic of Armenia Suren Karayan noted that agricultural produce of Armenia is in great demand in Russia, and demand for it is already developing in the markets of the countries of the European Union. Informing that in the near future the company "Spike" will start deliveries of agricultural products to the European market, Suren Karayan expressed the belief that with the proper organization of production, Armenian products will be competitive. He also said that there are new investors who invest in large greenhouse farms. According to Suren Karayan, in 2017, the agricultural sector recorded significant growth, which remained in the first quarter of 2018. Ambassador of France to Armenia Jonathan Lacote noted that the quality of agricultural products of Armenia is recognized in the world, and France attaches great importance to cooperation with the republic in the field of agriculture.
