ArmInfo. Emigration is inherent not only in Armenia, but also in all post-Soviet countries, Eastern and even Western Europe. Migration processes occur constantly. This was stated by Armenian Prime Minister Serzh Sargsyan in an interview to the TV channel "Shant", speaking about 300 thousand citizens who left the country for the last 10 years.
According to him, these figures are somewhat exaggerated by the opposition, but, nevertheless, this is really a problem for the country.
"Emigration is really our bleeding wound, which is very dangerous and painful for us, I do not try to justify myself, but it should be borne in mind that emigration is not unique to Armenia, but to all post-Soviet countries, Eastern and even Western Europe. , because of certain circumstances we have additional problems, "he said, adding that the government is trying to solve these problems.
The prime minister recalled that he had previously announced the goal of bringing the population to 4 million by 2040. "I said, and I'm sure it's an affordable number," he said. Serzh Sargsyan noted that in the next few weeks public discussions will begin on the development strategy of Armenia until 2030. He expressed confidence that the figures and indicators, which are, at least, will convince everyone that the authorities are going to come to this basic indicator. "The government has already planned, and I think that in just a few weeks we will make some changes to the Tax Code to reduce the income tax," he said. At the same time, the prime minister announced plans to increase pensions and a minimum wage. Changes, he said, probably will come into effect on January 1.
All these opportunities, as noted by Serzh Sargsyan, will give peace, quiet life, economic development, promotion. "Again, I repeat, no one can create conditions in which people will be satisfied for 5, 10 or 15 years, and during these 25-26 years, if you consider all the problems that faced the authorities of all time, Armenia developed well. I do not say that everything is good, no matter how good, my assessment is always such that we could do more, "said Prime Minister Serzh Sargsyan.
It should be noted that pensions and wages in Armenia have not increased since 2015.
