ArmInfo. Agriculture Minister Arthur Khachatryan on May 31 received a delegation led by Neufel Telahig, the Regional Director for Programs for Armenia, of Near East, North Africa and Europe region of the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD).
According to the press service of the Ministry, during the meeting the head of the department presented Armenia's leadership the development of the agricultural sector, in particular, giving importance to the development of small and medium-sized farms, as well as providing affordable financial resources for them.
The sides touched upon the introduction of modern technologies in the sphere, the development of livestock, the increase in the production of local agricultural products and the expansion of exports. They also discussed the problem of uncultivated land.
Neufel Telahig confirmed readiness to develop and implement new joint programs with the Ministry of Agriculture, which will be in tune with the current priorities of the sphere.
Earlier, ArmInfo informed that during the meeting of the former head of the Armenian Ministry of Agriculture Ignaty Arakelyan with the head of the IFAD programs for Near East North Africa and Europe Rami Salman on January 31, 2018, an agreement was reached to create in the near future a working group comprising representatives of the Ministry of Agriculture, sector and IFAD. The main task of the group will be the development of the short-term (2019-2020) and long-term (2019-2024) strategies for the development of agricultural production in Armenia.
