ArmInfo. About 70% of Armenian IT products were exported to foreign markets, today the export component fell by 2-3%, which indicates the growth of domestic demand. RA Deputy Minister of Economic Development and Investments Avag Avanesyan told ArmInfo.
The main countries in which the IT products of Armenian specialists are in demand are the markets of the USA and Canada (36.4%), the EU (28.4%), the CIS (15.4%). Moreover, he said, there is demand from Australia and East Asia.
The Deputy Minister noted that today IT solutions in the domestic market are most in demand in the financial sector. At the same time he added that demand will grow in other areas, in view of the fact that the market today is saturated with offers, in particular, inexpensive, introducing which can increase the efficiency of the business.
"There are a lot of advanced IT companies in Armenia, solutions and developments of which are in great demand on the foreign market, while local companies prefer the services of external developers," he said. In this regard, the deputy head of the department stressed that the issue of lack of confidence in IT is still topical in Armenia, although the situation is many times better than it was years before, he said. In addition, A. Avanesyan added that the number of IT companies has significantly increased. "In 2015, there were 274 companies on the market, while in 2017 their number increased to 570. In total, the revenue of the sphere by the end of last year was $ 612 million," he concluded.
