ArmInfo. In relation to the head of the Bagratashen customs house, a relative of Levon Sargsyan (known as "Alraghatsi Lyovik"), an official investigation has been opened, which will answer the question of how true the information about his corruptness corresponds to reality. This was stated on July 19 in a conversation with journalists by the chairman of the Committee of State Revenues of Armenia David Ananyan.
According to Ananyan, media reports that the newly appointed head of the Bagratashen customs office is the son of Levon Sargsyan's sister is not true for the simple reason that, although he has a sister, she does not have a son. Nevertheless, as the head of the department admitted, they actually have a kinship, but a long-distance relationship. "We launched an official investigation into the personal case of Artur Gasparyan, but not because of his family ties, but because of the reports of our employees. They expressed concern about the level of his professionalism and corruption risks, and now we will find out whether this concern is relevant or no," Ananyan said.
Answering to a remark that dubious persons are appointed high positions in SRC and then working investigation begins in their respect, Ananyan said: "It does not matter what decisions we make - it's important whether we remain in captivity of our decisions, or no. If we made a decision and then see certain costs, then we take the opposite decision and move forward."
As the head of the SRC pointed out, his main concern is connected with personnel assignments, but with ensuring the tax revenues of the state budget through tax administration and tax and customs control. "Evaluate the outcome of our work, and not personnel appointments," he said.
In general, as he stressed, it does not happen, that in his department they work people "exceptionally clean and with angelic wings behind their shoulders. The system should be self-cleaning permanently. Nobody is immune from mistakes," he explained.
