As the press service of the Ministry of Economic Development and Investment informs, according to Deborah Grieser this decision was made following the results of Armenia's successful participation in the Smithson Folklife Festival in Washington, as well as presentation of the tourist attraction of the Armenia during meetings with tour operators of Boston, New York and Washington .
Artsvik Minasyan, in turn, stressed the importance of USAID's assistance to Armenia, in particular the implementation of the grant agreement "A more competitive and diversified private sector" aimed at implementing agricultural and infrastructure programs, as well as financing tourism projects.
During the meeting, the interlocutors also discussed other issues of mutual interest and forthcoming possible joint projects.
To recall in October 2017, on the sidelines of celebrating the 25th anniversary of USAID in Armenia, the US Ambassador to Armenia Richard Mills, summing up the quarter-century anniversary of the organization's activities in Armenia, noted that during this period the organization provided assistance to Armenia for $ 1 billion. At the same time, Mills noted that he is proud of the fact that the main USAID projects are implemented by local organizations. "This is due to the fact that over the past 25 years, civil society and structures have been formed in Armenia that can meet the needs of the people and they have the capacity to implement the organization's programs." At the same time, the head of the Armenian office of USAID Deborah Grieser said that the structure in 2018 will receive $ 17 million for the implementation of programs in Armenia.
