ArmInfo. Within the framework of the program of construction of the interstate highway from the Armenian city of Alaverdi to the Georgian border in 2018, a 38.45 km section of the road was built. The Minister of Transport, Communications and Information Technologies of Armenia Ashot Hakobyan stated this on September 4 at a meeting with journalists.
According to him, 1.04 billion drams were spent for the implementation of the program, which is 14.9% of the total funds provided for in 2018. An agreement has been concluded for the construction works, the workshop of the cleaning station has been demolished, and work on the erection of a new one begins.
Earlier, the minister noted that the works on the section from Vanadzor to Alaverdi have already been partially completed, where only the top cover of the route remains to be completed. "The works on the Alaverdi-Georgia section, which started in June, will last for 900 days, although we plan to finish all the work much earlier," Hakobyan said.
To recall, the Armenian government approved the conclusion of an agreement with the French Safhezh company to provide consulting services for the construction of the M-6 motorway. The company will carry out calculations for the construction of a section of the road and will carry out technical control over the construction work. It is planned that 7.4 billion drams will be allocated for the implementation of the program in 2018. The rehabilitation and repair of the road is carried out at the expense of two large financial institutions, in particular, the Asian Development Bank, which is planned 3.4 billion drams, of which 2.2 billion drams is credit, and 1.2 billion drams is co-financing from the state. The second major investor of the project is the European Investment Bank, within the program of which for the restoration and repair of the highway in 2018 3.17 billion drams will be directed, including 2.4 billion drams as loan funds, and 816 million drams in quality of co-financing of the government.
