ArmInfo. The metal industry of Armenia in January-August 2018 showed a decline of 16.4%, against a growth of 9.4% a year earlier. According to the RA Statistics Committee, in January-August ferromolybdenum production in Armenia decreased by 2.5% per annum, making 4,249 tons, against a growth of 15.2% a year earlier.
In August only, ferromolybdenum produced 392 tons, which is 19.9% more than the July volume. In January-August, the production of molybdenum concentrate increased by 0.8% per annum - up to 7513 tons, against a growth of 5.8% a year earlier. In August alone, the production of molybdenum concentrate increased by 34.8% - to 1,186 tons. Converter (rough) copper production declined by 2.2% on an annual basis - to 7,682 tons (against 2.7% decline a year earlier), with a monthly decline of 5.6% - to 952 tons. Production of copper concentrate decreased by 19.9% - to 224.3 thousand tons, against a growth of 8.8% a year earlier. In a monthly section, the volume of copper concentrate production increased by 12% to 29.9 thousand tons. The production of zinc concentrate increased during the reporting period by 24.8% per annum - to 7,912 tons, against 21.6% growth a year earlier. In August, the volume of zinc concentrate production increased by 4.1% to 989 tons.
The production of aluminum foil for the reporting period decreased by 2.5% per annum - to 21,282 tons, against 9.5% growth a year earlier. At the same time, in August the volume of aluminum foil production decreased by 0.3% to 2,495 tons. During the reporting period, the production of aluminum rolled products amounted to 156 tons with an annual decline of 65.2%, against the growth in 149.3 times a year earlier.
The production of steel pipes in the reporting period increased by 3.2% per annum - to 6,944 tons (against a growth of 55% a year earlier), but only in August an increase of 2% was recorded - to 1,122 tons. Data on the production of molybdenum briquettes in the statistics of the reporting period are not available.
All metals produced in Armenia are exported, mainly to Europe and the USA. Recall that in 2017, the metallurgical industry of Armenia increased its production by 11.3% per annum, against the 11.1% decline in 2016. In particular, ferromolybdenum production increased by 1.1%,
molybdenum concentrate - by 2.8%, copper concentrate increased by 10.3% in 2017, aluminum foil - by 14.4%, rolled aluminum - by up to 543 tons, steel pipes - by 36.2%, zinc concentrate - by 22.2%. At the same time, the production of converter (draft) copper decreased in 2017 by 6.7%.
