The work of business forum of the International Organization of La Francophonie (OIF ) kicked off in the capital of Armenia - Yerevan on October 10.The opening ceremony of the forum was addressed by the President of Armenia Armen Sarkissian and the Secretary General of the OIF Michaelle Jean.
"The Fourth Industrial Revolution provides tremendous opportunities for the whole space of Francophonie. It can really turn the world around, and in this process the OIF countries can take an active part," said Michaelle Jean. According to her, the digital economy serves an engine for the economies of the Francophone countries, multiplying their efficiency many times . "Therefore, it is very important to support innovation incubators and other mechanisms to support them," added Jean.
In turn, Armenian President Armen Sarkissian noted that Armenia can show an example of not only the civil, but also the technological revolution. "A vivid example of sucha revolution is the TUMO Center for Creative Technologies, where our forum has started. This center, where children, in the gaming environment, learn new technologies, attracted the attention of Paris Mayor Anne Hidalgo, who decided to open a center on the Armenian model in the capital of France", the president of Armenia stated. To note, the forum is taking place on the eve of the Francophonie Summit, which will be held on October 11 and 12. French President Emmanuel Macron, Prime Ministers of Canada and Belgium, and high-level delegations from more than 80 countries will arrive in Yerevan at the summit.
