ArmInfo. In Armenia, the production of aluminum foil in January-September 2018 in comparison with the same period of 2017 decreased by 7.4% - to 22,490 tons, against 9.7% growth a year earlier. According to the RA Statistics Committee, in September alone, the production of aluminum foil decreased by 51.6% to 1,208 tons.
The output of aluminum rolled products in January-September amounted to 156 tons, with an annual decline of 71.2%, against substantial growth a year earlier. According to experts, the observed decline in the production of aluminum foil is due to the entry into force of new US sanctions against the Russian Federation, because of which the foil produced in Armenia has lost the American market.
According to the RA Customs Service, in 2017, Armenia increased its exports of aluminum foil by 14.3% per annum - to 33.1 thousand tons, against a growth of 6.5% a year earlier. Mostly foil was exported to the USA (47%) and Germany (29%), as well as to Poland (7%), the Netherlands (5.3%), Canada (3.4%). Export of foil partially fell on the United Kingdom, France, Austria, Israel, the Czech Republic, Gabon, Spain.
