ArmInfo.The volume of cargo transportation in Armenia in January-September 2018 to the same period of the previous year increased by 7.8% - up to 21,680.7 thousand tons. Of these, 18,266 thousand tons (84.3% of the total volume) accounted for road transport, which increased by 8.2% in y-o-y terms, the report of the RA Statistics Committee reads.
According to statistical data, rail freight traffic during the reporting period increased by 9% to 2 155.1 thousand tons. Air transport decreased by 24% - to 13 thousand tons. The main pipeline delivered 1,246 thousand tons of natural gas with no change in y-o-y terms. Freight turnover increased by 4% - up to 3,154.4 million tons/km.
Passenger traffic during the reporting period decreased by 7.7% to 137,100.2 thousand people, which was largely due to a decrease in road traffic by 10.2% to 117,232 thousand people. At the same time, passenger transportation by electric transport increased by 10.7% to 17,416.3 thousand people, railway transport - by 6.4% to 300.1 thousand person. and air - by 12% - up to 2 151.8 thousand people. Passenger traffic decreased by 5% to 1,872.9 million passenger/km.
