ArmInfo. Argentine businessmen are exploring the possibility of founding a modern experimental agricultural enterprise in Armenia. This was reported on November 9 during the meeting of the Acting RA Minister of Agriculture Gegham Gevorgyan with the Argentine delegation headed by Ambassador Gonzalo Uriolabeitia.
According to the press service of the RA Ministry of Agriculture, it is stipulated that not only farmers, but also students of the National Agrarian University will become the main beneficiaries of the new enterprise. In parallel with the training and consultations, farmers will have the opportunity to observe the demonstration fields, on-site to get acquainted with the effectiveness of the use of new technologies, and students to carry out production practice.
The Minister of Agriculture stressed that the Argentine side is providing Armenia with substantial assistance in the modernization of the agricultural sector. He noted that the rich experience available in this issue and the technologies used by Argentina can be useful for Armenian peasants.
Gonzalo Uriolabeitia, in turn, noted that in the framework of the presented project, a common Armenian- Argentine a team that is actively working towards its implementation. According to the Ambassador, the program will be implemented in two stages - the implementation of infrastructure systems and the provision of advisory services. The diplomat also assured that in case of success the program will be expanded.
The Argentine side also showed interest in bilateral cooperation in the field of viticulture. Gegham Gevorgyan proposed to develop close cooperation with the Viticulture and Winemaking Foundation stressing the viticulture is one of the priorities of Armenia.
