ArmInfo. Armenia will create its own database of local grape varieties. This was reported at a press conference on November 12 by a researcher at the Department of Genetics and Cytology of Yerevan State University and the Institute of Molecular Biology of the National Academy of Sciences Christine Margaryan.
According to her, the database, which is called the Armenian Vitis Database, will be attached to a European database with a high level attendance. "This will allow us to increase the visibility of our grape varieties, popularize winemaking and viticulture in Armenia," she said. Moreover, as K. Margaryan noted, Armenian autochthonous grape varieties were identified in the European database, indicating the country of origin .
