ArmInfo. In order to avoid queues during the customs clearance of cars imported to Armenia, the State Revenue Committee (SRC) extended working days in December, the Department reports.
According to the SRC, in 2018 activity sharply increased related to importing cars to Armenia. If earlier within a year 40 thousand cars were imported, this figure has already reached 62.5 thousand in 2018, which led to congestions and queues. "The vehicle department of the Ararat customs house (2nd department) was not designed for such volumes, which led to the formation of queues for customs clearance," the report reads.
Prior to a radical solution of the issue, the SRC notifies that it will be possible to carry out customs clearance of cars at any customs offices and at all checkpoints.
The tax and customs authority at the same time reports that in order to avoid queues when importing cars, the agency extended working hours by the end of December. "The automobile department of the Ararat customs house (2nd department) will work from 9:00am to 9:00pm from Monday to Friday," the report reads.
