ArmInfo.Armenia plans to import more gas from Iran. The Armenian Ambassador said this, expressing Yerevan's readiness to also increase electricity exports to Tehran.
Speaking at the meeting on "Iranian-Armenian relations, opportunities and challenges," Artashes Tumanyan also stated that recent political events in Yerevan had no impact on the country's foreign policy. He also expressed the readiness of Armenia to increase electricity exports to Iran and expressed hope that the trade turnover between the two countries will increase in the near future.
Speaking of Washington's pressure on Yerevan to reduce relations with the sanctioning state, he said: "The United States negotiated with Armenia about Tehran's relations with Yerevan, and they understood that mutually beneficial relations are of great importance for us."
Meanwhile, head of "Iran-Armenia Friendship Association" Mohammadreza Damavandi complained that, despite the high historical and political relations in the field of culture, both countries could not expand the relationship to the desired level.
According to him, while Tehran and Yerevan set a goal to achieve a turnover of 1 billion dollars, they reached a total of $ 200-250 million.
As "Iran.ru." reminds, in the middle of August, Deputy Minister of Energy of Iran Homayoun Haeri announced that Tehran and Yerevan are currently working on completing the construction of the third Iran- Armenia transmission line.
