ArmInfo.Acting Minister of Energy Infrastructures and Natural Resources Garegin Baghramyan participates in the 9th session of the Assembly of the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA) in Abu Dhabi (UAE).
According to the press service of the Ministry, the Assembly is the highest session of the annual meeting of IRENA. In the course of its work, annual reports on the work performed are discussed, development programs, the annual budget of the organization are approved, and the latest technologies, developments and challenges in the field of renewable energy are presented. During the session, issues related to the diversification of energy sources, the socio-economic benefits of energy efficiency, the role of hydropower in the diversification process was discussed. The participants also discussed the impact of renewable energy on sustainable development, the best experience of several countries in the application of innovative solutions. According to the session regulations, a round table was held on innovative solutions in the field of energy storage. To recall, IRENA Agency was founded in 2009, its members are 159 states, including Armenia. The goal of IRENA is assisting in the adoption and application of all types of renewable energy, including energy efficiency measures, taking into account the national peculiarities of the states, maintaining environmental standards, and limiting the impact on natural resources. To note IRENA session was held in Abu Dhabi on January 11-13.
