ArmInfo. In 2018, an unprecedented number of cars were imported to Armenia. This was announced at a press conference by the Chairman of the Armenian State Committee on Income Development David Ananyan on January 16 at a press conference.
So, in 2018, 67255 cars were brought to Armenia, while in 2017 there were 39,282 cars, and in 2016 - only 16,887. Growth was respectively 71.2% and 298%. As the head of the tax and customs authority explained, Armenia turned out to be a convenient channel for importing cars into the Eurasian Union. Until 2020, import duties on cars remain at the same level of 10%, which is stipulated in the agreement on Armenia's accession to the EAEU, while in the other republics there are uniform, Eurasian duties. As a result, many, mostly residents of Kazakhstan, import cars from Armenia. During the reporting period, tax revenues to the Armenian customs in comparison with 2017 increased by 46.2% in the year and by 159% compared to the year 2016.
Payments from one car over the past four years have almost halved. In 2014-15, they averaged about 980 thousand drams, in 2016 - about 895 thousand, in 2017 - 681 thousand drams, and in 2018 - already 582 thousand. Cars were mainly imported from Georgia, USA and Japan: American, Japanese, German and Korean production. As David Ananyan pointed out, in May 2018, the SRC began the implementation of customs clearance of cars at its invoice value. And only if the invoice value is questionable by the customs, or it turns out to be lower than the one that the electronic meter goes to on the official website of the SRC, is the department guided by the customs counter.
At the same time, if there is no big difference, then no questions or delays arise. The cost of the emergency car, as noted Ananyan, is set on the basis of the assessment of the relevant expert of the SRC.At the same time, the head of the ministry called on all future car owners to calculate the cost of customs clearance precisely by means of an electronic SRC counter, in order to avoid problems in the future.
