ArmInfo.On January 22, in the framework of the World Economic Forum in Davos, Prime Minister Nikolay Pashinyan met with President of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) Sumantra Chakrabarti.According to the press service of the Prime Minister's Office, Nikol Pashinyan highly appreciated the cooperation between the RA Government and the EBRD and noted the importance of its further expansion.
According to Pashinyan, the programs implemented by the EBRD are important for the reforms initiated by the Armenian government and the economic development agenda of the Republic of Armenia, in particular, stimulating the competitiveness of the private sector, developing the capital market, managing solid waste, improving water supply systems, urban lighting, etc. pointed out the Armenian Prime Minister, the steps of the government are aimed at implementing an economic revolution, and in this regard, active and productive cooperation with the EBRD may be important.
Sumantra Chakrabarti stressed that the EBRD is ready to continue promoting the initiatives of the Armenian government in various fields. The head of the EBRD informed that in March his visit to Armenia is planned with a view to discuss a new strategy of cooperation with the Republic of Armenia in the context of the changes that have taken place in the republic. In the new strategy, as he pointed out, an important place will be given to SME development programs.
Noting the readiness to support reforms of the Cabinet of Ministers of Armenia, the President of the EBRD stressed that this assistance would be both financial in nature and advisory.The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) was established in 1991 after the end of the Cold War in order to build a new era in Central and Eastern Europe. The EBRD invests in projects that contribute to the transition to an open market economy, as well as the development of private and business activities.
