ArmInfo. The Armenian government will not subsidize the prices of natural gas for domestic consumers, RA Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said at a press conference in Moscow.
"For the time being we state that the gas price for consumers will not rise in 2019. We have a year to continue negotiations with the Russian side to resolve the issue in the long term," Pashinyan said.
The Prime Minister of Armenia believes that it is more correct to resolve the issue within the framework of the EAEU, since we are talking about a common economic space. He again stressed that the Government of Armenia is not going to subsidize the price of gas, and no shares will be transferred in return. To recall, on the last day of 2018 Nikol Pashinyan assured that domestic tariffs for the population would remain the same. Gazprom also said that the Gazprom Armenia subsidiary would buy Russian gas at a price of $ 165 per 1,000 cubic meters instead of the previous $ 150. The company agreed not to submit an application to raise the tariff for the population while negotiations are underway with the Government of Armenia.
