ArmInfo. First Deputy Minister of Energy and Natural Resources of Armenia Garegin Baghramyan received on January 29 a delegation led by Deputy Minister of Energy of the Islamic Republic of Iran Omayun Aeri..
The delegation also included Bahman Salehi, the Director of company, general contractor of the Iran- Armenia 400 kV power transmission line.
During the meeting, the parties discussed the details of the construction of the third Iran-Armenia high- voltage power line, the construction of the Meghri hydroelectric station.
In the meeting also discussed the issue of expanding the gas exchange program in the framework of the gas-for-electricity scheme and the possibility of increasing the volume of imported blue fuel.
The interlocutors noted the importance of deepening trade and economic relations between Armenia and Iran, where these programs play a special role. The importance of intensifying reciprocal visits of local officials was also emphasized, which will make it possible to find an effective and quick solution to the problems encountered during the implementation of the programs. The parties expressed their willingness to continue the consistent construction of high-voltage power lines and substations in accordance with the proper quality and schedule.
To recall, since 2008, Armenia has been supplying Iranian gas within the framework of the program "Gas in exchange for electricity" at the rate of 1 cubic meter of gas in exchange for 3 kW / h of electricity. The issue of increasing the supply of Iranian gas to Armenia continues to be on the agenda and will be discussed until a concrete and profitable solution is found, said acting head of the Armenian government Nikol Pashinyan.
Meanwhile, back in June 2018, former Minister of Energy Infrastructures and Natural Resources of Armenia Artur Grigoryan stated that in the event of an increase in the price of Russian natural gas, Armenia may begin negotiations on fuel supplies from Iran. "Armenia is interested in the supply of cheap natural gas," the minister said. Earlier, the former minister first called the price of gas offered by Iran - $ 160 per 1 thousand cubic meters.
