ArmInfo. Information technology is key to the success of the economic revolution in Armenia. Speaking at the Cologne University of Technology today, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said this today.
According to him, it was technology that in many ways made possible a revolution in Armenia: "Through social networks, the Armenian people consolidated and renounced the former elite, which did not enjoy their trust. With the velvet revolution, the Armenian people ended the era of bad rule, preferring transparency. It was the end of totalitarian power.
The Prime Minister stated that the digital and technological era promises transparency, responsibility and the best protection of human rights, and the Armenian people successfully did all this. "After the early elections to the National Assembly of Armenia, the first stage of the velvet revolution was completed. Now we are faced with an equally important task. We urgently need an economic revolution. In this regard, we intend to use all the opportunities offered by the digital age," Pashinyan stressed.
According to him, IT and the digital era increase the international competitiveness of countries. "In particular, it concerns small countries, such as Armenia, whose influence on global processes is limited due to geographic and geopolitical reasons. IT provides equal conditions for all players, regardless of their position or possibilities. For this reason, the Armenian government considers IT to be one of fundamentals of economic development. We really chose to build a technological and industrial economy, " Pashinyan concluded.
