ArmInfo. Specialists of the National Center for Disease Control and Prevention of the Ministry of Healthcare have formed a program to combat noise in the city of Yerevan, which provides for the study and analysis of noise affecting the environment, identifying the main sources of noise, their types, creating a profile that will give a clear idea of the level of noise in populated areas.
According to the message of the Ministry of Healthcare, the noise control program in Yerevan includes a rather large amount of information, since the last time such a map was drawn up was in 1976. Since Yerevan is a large city, the noise profile mainly includes noise emanating from traffic flows, at the first stage in 2018 measurements were carried out in the noisiest areas of the small center of the capital.
However, until 2021 it is planned to carry out measurements throughout the territory of Yerevan and to draw up a profiling of the noise of all communities. The works will be gradually presented to the appropriate authorized bodies, which will provide an opportunity to implement the most targeted and effective measures aimed at preserving the health of people. According to the source, due to the fact that the volume of construction works without standards is increasing in Yerevan, the noise level in the city exceeds the allowable by 25-30 dB. According to the World Health Organization, environmental noise is growing at about 0.5 dB per year. "Today, the noise is already at a level that violates the peace of citizens," the message reads.
