ArmInfo. In 2018, after the accomplishment of the "velvet revolution" in Armenia, about 30 thousand jobs were removed from the "shadow". Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said this on February 13 from the rostrum of the National Assembly.
According to Pashinyan, the process of reducing the shadow economy and transferring labor to the legal field continues. At the same time, the Prime Minister believes that reducing the "shadow" on a voluntary basis will be supported by legislative changes planned by the draft amendments to the Tax Code - the introduction of a flat tax scale, when, regardless of the size of the salary, income tax is levied at 23% and the establishment of a tax on profit plus dividend tax is also 23% (18% + 5%). "The introduction of a single scale of taxation of wages will allow you to legalize shadow incomes. Today, many hide the real wage, so as not to pay high income tax, and income received is made up as profits and dividends, and they give salaries to employees in black cash in envelopes. If everyone works the same tax rate, we hope that jobs will be taken out of the shadows, "he explained.
To note, according to various international structures, the shadow economy in Armenia has grown to 50% in recent years. It is also noted that due to the scale of the "shadow", the Armenian budget annually loses on average up to $ 2 billion.
