ArmInfo. In Armenia, the rules of gas engine fuel trading at gas filling stations will be changed. Amendments to the Tax Code were made at the February 15 meeting of the RA Government.
Presenting the draft amendments Minister of Finance of the Republic of Armenia Atom Janjughazyan noted that the presented document is aimed at protecting the interests of consumers. He stressed that with the adoption of the law, the gas filling station will calculate with consumers based on the weight of liquefied gas, and the excise tax will be charged on sales volumes. In fact, we will talk about every kilogram sold. For a ton of gas, the owners of gas stations will pay 34,000 drams instead of 25,000 drams per thousand cubic meters. Thus, the minister continued, consumers will no longer have reason to complain about gas shortages, and there will be no additional tax burden on the gas filling station.
According to Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, there are a lot of signals from citizens dissatisfied with the constant "weight" at gas filling stations: people complain that different gas is pumped into cylinders at different gas stations. Studies show that the difference may be due to gas density. "To solve this issue, we say that gas should be sold to consumers by kilograms. Relations in the tax field should also be regulated," said Pashinyan. He noted that at some point there was a fuss about a possible increase in excise tax, but nothing like that happened. "If the government's decision leads to an increase in the price of liquefied gas, then all filling stations will have to admit that so far they have simply robbed people. This issue should be in the center of attention of tax authorities," the Prime Minister said. In the case of price increases, the consumer will not suffer anyway, since the volume of gas produced will also increase. "I say this because the media from circles you know will blow a hurricane. They say that the next price increase, the government has done this and that. Everything is gone, the client is leaving, the cast is removed" and something like that, "Pashinyan said. It is assumed that the changes will take effect from April 1.
