Acting First Deputy of the Urban Planning Committee of Armenia Armen Ghularyan chaired the meeting.
Welcoming the participants of the meeting, Ghularyan noted that taking into account the efficient use of energy resources, the priority of Armenia is to protect the environment, the need to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, as well as the use of energy-efficient solutions in the issue of energy price fluctuations, therefore reducing the cost of energy.
At the same time, he stressed that the main potential for energy conservation remains in construction, in particular, in the residential sector
It was also stressed that the new program of the Armenian government attaches particular importance to ensuring investment policy aimed at increasing energy efficiency, developing renewable energy systems and energy saving, and deepening cooperation with international structures in this area.
Representatives of government bodies and the mayor's office of Yerevan briefly presented the projects implemented by them in various areas (lighting, transportation, construction of buildings, etc.) and the settlement of issues arising during the implementation of these programs, around which the discussion took place.
The issue of the possibility of introducing energy-saving systems in the schools of the country was also on the agenda.
At the end of the meeting, A. Ghularyan noted that the working group is a good platform for identifying factors hindering the implementation of energy efficiency and energy saving measures and developing proposals for their elimination, stressing that at the next meetings if will be necessary, local and international organizations and experts will be involved in this area.
