On February 18, Armenian Minister of Economic Development and Investments Tigran Khachatryan received a delegation headed by Machey Chura, head of the European Investment Bank's regional representative office in the South Caucasus.According to the press service of the Ministry of Economic Development and Investments, Khachatryan touched upon the economic component of the five-year government program, noting that the document from the point of view of economic growth focused on its inclusiveness.
The Minister presented issues related to ensuring equal competitive conditions.The head of the South Caucasus regional office of the EIB, in turn, presented the activities of the Bank, noting the 11-year experience of cooperation with Armenia.The head of the Armenian Ministry of Economic Development and Trade discussed with the EIB representatives the programs financed by the Bank, in particular in the fields of agriculture, road construction, energy saving, irrigation systems, etc.The interlocutors discussed issues related to the availability of financial resources for small and medium-sized businesses.
The European Investment Bank is the EU state financial institution for financing the development of backward European regions in the form of long-term loans. Created in 1958 with the aim of providing loans for the construction and reconstruction of objects that are of interest to EU countries. The bank's cooperation with Armenia is based on three priority areas - energy supply, development and support of infrastructures, support for SMEs.Earlier, during a meeting with RA Deputy Prime Minister Tigran Avinyan, Machea Chura said that during 10 years of its cooperation with Armenia, the EIB had invested about 380 million euros in programs implemented in the country.
