ArmInfo. The volume of cargo transportation in Armenia in January 2019 and January 2018 went down by 67.8% to 901.3 thousand tons. Of these, 495.9 thousand tons (55% of the total) accounted for road transport, which decreased by 79.3% in y-o-y terms, the report of the RA Statistical Committee says.
According to statistical data, rail freight for the reporting period increased by 9.5% - to 219 thousand tons. The main pipeline delivered 185.5 thousand tons of natural gas, which is 4% more than in the same period of 2018. The tonnage of cargo transportation by air transport amounted to 900 tons with a y-o-y unchanged. Cargo turnover declined in January 2019 by 10.6% per annum - to 377.2 million tons-km. Passenger traffic in annual terms decreased by 1.4% - to 13963.6 thousand people In particular, road transport decreased by 3.3% - to 12,028.5 thousand people. At the same time, rail transportation increased by 12.6% - to 27.8 thousand people, and air transportation - by 12.2% - to 212.2 thousand people. Passenger transportation by electric transport also increased - by 11.7%, amounting to 1,695.1 thousand people. Passenger traffic declined in annual terms by 3.7% - to 177.5 million passenger-km.
