ArmInfo.The First Deputy Minister of Agriculture Gegham Gevorgian met with representatives of a number of non-governmental organizations involved in fishing in the Ministry of Agriculture.
According to the press service of the Ministry of Agriculture, during the meeting, participants discussed issues related to the use of more efficient management systems in water farms in order to restore the groundwater reserves of the Ararat Valley, increase production and export of fish products through upgrading fish farms, ensuring the competitiveness of products in export markets otherRepresentatives of the NGO noted that in order to increase efficiency and expand the activities of fisheries, they expect government support, to which Gegham Gevorgyan suggested using the ongoing program of state subsidies.During the meeting, the interlocutors also touched upon the possibilities of producing organic fish products, for which, in the opinion of Armenia, there are all prerequisites.According to the Statistics Committee of the Republic of Armenia, in 2018, the fisheries sector showed an increase of 1.1%, providing gross output of 36.6 billion drams .
