Deputy Prime Minister Tigran Avinyan and Director of the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) Regional Bureau for Europe and the United Nations, Mirjana Spoljaric Egger, on March 18 took part in the opening of the new office of the National Innovation Center "Sustainable Development Goals" and the presentation of the new tool called Travelinsghts. The first office was opened in November 2017.
As the press service of the Deputy Prime Minister 's office reports, welcoming the delegation of UNDP, Avinyan thanked the organization for the assistance provided to the republic. He expressed the hope of continuing productive and ambitious cooperation. The Deputy Prime Minister also touched upon the priorities of the government program, which, he said, is based on the inclusive growth model.
Mirjana Spoljaric Egger, in turn, noted the readiness of UNDP in coordination with other international partners to promote the initiatives of the Government of Armenia. The interlocutors noted the importance of the role of the National Innovation Center "Sustainable Development Goals" of Armenia in this process.
The parties discussed the prospects of cooperation in the implementation of reforms in the areas of public administration, digitalization, employment promotion. Touching on the Travelinsights tool, the Deputy Prime Minister noted that he would use the capabilities of artificial intelligence to provide real-time data for those responsible for analyzing the feedback from tourists, thus contributing to reforms in the field. The tool will allow identifying the reasons for tourists' dissatisfaction, as well as decide on the reasonableness of introducing new services in the field. On September 25, 2015, the UN member states adopted the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. It contains a number of goals aimed at eradicating poverty, conserving the resources of the planet and ensuring well-being for all. Each of the 17 Goals contains a series of indicators that must be achieved within 15 years and a total of 169 objectives covering social, environmental, and social development. The achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals requires the joint efforts of governments, the private sector, civil society and the inhabitants of the Earth. To recall, the opening ceremony of the first National Innovation Center of the UN Sustainable Development Goals in Yerevan was held on November 14, 2017. The center has become a joint initiative of the government of Armenia and the UN and, as reported, will operate within the framework of the Center for Strategic Initiatives. It was noted that the Center will serve as a platform for the implementation of experiments, cooperation and analysis, as well as the involvement of highly qualified specialists to identify the potential for the development of Armenia and accelerate the implementation of the Agenda 2030.
