Their competence includes only the provision of the macroenvironment, where investment is possible, economic growth, the key to which is low inflation. Chairman of the Central Bank of Armenia Artur Javadyan stated this during his speech at the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia.
Continuing this, he noted that reforms and economic growth cannot be achieved without a low inflationary environment.
Javdyan also stressed that the Regulator will present tomorrow a new forecast for inflation, according to which inflation is expected to be within 3%.
To recall, according to the latest World Bank forecast in 2019 and 2020. in Armenia, inflation is expected at 4%. The International Monetary Fund expects for 2019 the inflation rate of 2.1% - 3% in 2020.
According to the RA Statistics Committee, in January-December 2018, inflation in Armenia was 1.8%, and compared to the same period in 2017, it was 2.5%. In January-April 2019, inflation was 2.5%, and compared with the same period last year, 1.7%
