ArmInfo. In late Oct-early Nov 2011 Unibank's processing center will start embossing Visa chip cards, Deputy Chairman of the Board, Card Business Manager of Unibank Mesrop Hakobyan said in an interview to ArmInfo.
All the banks needs is Visa's certification in early Oct.

Unibank has spent some $1mln on this project. The Smart Vista processing center has been bought from the Russian BPC Banking Technologies. This system will help Unibank to effectively manage its card business, including the issue and acquiring of magnet and chip cards, electronic and mobile commerce and the loyalty program to be launched in Oct 2011.
Hakobyan said that Unibank is not going to withdraw from the Armenian Card system. By the end of this year the bank will have 110,000 cards against 73,000 for the moment (among the top five banks). Of them 55,000 are Visa cards. The bank provides a wide range of card services, including overdrafts (their total portfolio being 11bln AMD).
