ArmInfo. Import of sugar to Armenia declined by 45 % in the first half of 2015. According to the report of the Armenia's Customs Service, in the first half of 2015 32.6 thousand tons of sugar was imported versus 59.2 thousand tons in 2014.
In monetary terms the supplies declined from 27 million dollars to 13.8 million dollars in 2015. At the same time, the sugar export in monetary terms was almost reduced to nothing, from 200 tons in 2014(122.5 thousand dollars) to current 32kg.
Almost all the sugar was imported from Brazil, while it was exported only to Georgia. To note, "Alex-Grig" company, owned by the Armenian oligarch, MP Samvel Aleksnayan, imports 99% of sugar.
