ArmInfo. As foodstuffs fall in price 4.4%, year-on-year deflation for Jan-Feb 2016 totals 1.1%, amid 0.8% increase of nonfood prices and 3.4% increase of service tariffs. The National Statistical Service told ArmInfo that in Jan-Feb 2016, inflation totaled 0.8%. After 2.2% inflation in January, a 1.4% deflation was registered in February. In particular, food prices increased 1.7%, amid 1.1% decline of the prices of non-foods and 0.7% increase of service tariffs. In Feb 2016 versus Feb 2015, deflation in the consumer market total 1.7%, as foodstuff prices fell 5.4% and those of the non-foods - 0.1% amid 3.4% growth of service tariffs. In Feb 2016 alone, food prices fell 2.9% (or 3.2% exclusive of alcohol and tobacco), non-foods - 0.6% while service tariffs increased 0.3%.
Deflation in Feb 2016 totaled 3.2% as prices of fruits and vegetables fell 13.4%-3.3%. In Feb 2015 versus Feb 2015 vegetable prices fell 2.1% and fruit prices fell 19.4%. In Feb alone, the prices of vegetables and fruits fell 13.4% and 3.3%.
The prices of non-foods fell 0.6% in Feb, as prices of clothing and knitted items fell 2.8%, cosmetics - 1.3%, shoes - 1.1%, fuel - 1%, office supplies - 0.9%.
Service tariffs increased in February 0.3%, as prices in the education sector increased 0.4%, transport prices increased 0.6% (as air ticket prices increased 2%), the prices in the culture sector increased 1% and medical services - 2.2%.
For comparison, deflation in Feb 2015 totaled 0.2%, as food prices fell 0.6% (inclusive of alcohol and tobacco), non-foods - 0.7% and service tariffs increased 0.2%. As compared to Feb 2014, in Feb 2015 inflation totaled 5.4%, as food prices increased 6.6% (inclusive of alcohol and tobacco), non-foods - 3.4%, amid 4% increase of service tariffs. In Jan-Feb 2015, inflation totaled 2.3%, as food prices increased 3.5% (inclusive of alcohol and tobacco), non-foods - 1.2%, amid 0.8% increase of service tariffs.
