ArmInfo. In Jan-Feb 2016 versus Jan-Feb 2015, the foreign trade turnover of Armenia dropped by 1.7% to 301.3 bln AMD or $614.2 mln. According to the preliminary data of the Armenian National Statistical Service, exports grew by 23.6% over year and totaled 110.7 bln AMD ($225.7 mln), and imports dropped by 12.2% to 190.6 bln AMD ($388.5 mln). Meanwhile, in Jan-Feb 2016, the economic activity in the country rose by 4.7% versus Jan-Feb 2015. In Feb 2016 this indicator rose by 4.5% versus Feb 2015, and by 9.4% versus Jan 2016.
In Feb 2016 alone, the foreign trade turnover increased by 53.3%, with exports rising by 53% and imports growing by 53.5%. In Feb 2016 versus Feb 2015, the foreign trade turnover grew by 8.1% due to 39.1% rise in exports and 4.2% drop in imports.
A year before, in Jan-Feb 2015 versus Jan-Feb 2014, the foreign trade turnover of Armenia dropped by 27.7%, with exports dropping by 25.2%, and imports decreasing by 28.6%. In Feb 2015 alone, the foreign trade rose by 17.4% due to 18% growth in imports and 15.6% rise in exports.
In Feb 2016, the average AMD/USD exchange rate was 493.64 AMD/$1, in Jan-Feb 2016 - 489.84 AMD/$1 (versus 478.39 AMD/$1 in Feb 2015 and 477.06 AMD/$1 in Jan-Feb 2015).
