ArmInfo. In 2015, the car imports in Armenia fell by 38.4% to 27.3 thsd cars versus 44.3 thsd cars in 2014 amid considerable drop in customs value by 52.2% to $133.4 mln versus $279.1 mln in 2014, the Customs Service of Armenia reports.
A similar situation was observed in exports. In 2015, Armenia exported 120 cars (down 36.8% versus 2014). The customs value of the exported cars fell by 28.2% to $2.6 mln versus $3.7 mln in 2014.
According to the source, the cars were mostly imported from Germany (43%), Japan (23.4%), Russia (22.3%) and the United States (4.4%). The cars were mostly exported to Georgia (53.3%), Russia (11.6%) and the United States (5%).
For comparison, it should be noted that in 2014 the imports of cars in both quantitative and value terms grew by 14.8% and 9.9%, respectively. In the meantime, the car exports dropped by 19.1% in quantitative terms, while the proceeds from the car sales fell by 15.9%.
