ArmInfo. Electric power generation in Armenia for Jan- March 2016 grew by 5% versus the same period of 2015 and totaled 1831.2 million kWh, the National Statistical Service of Armenia reports. In March alone, the electric power output dropped by 3.6% to 609.1 mln kWh.
In Jan-March 2016, the thermal power plants decreased electric power output by y-o-y 3.5% to 647.6 mln kWh. The hydropower plants increased generation by 28.2% to 379.4 million kWh. The Armenian Nuclear Power Plant increased the output by 1.1% to 802.8 million kWh. Over the period under review, 68 thsd GJ of thermal power was generated (24.6% y-o-y decline). Other sources generated 1.4mln kWh electric power (down 42.9% versus in Jan-March 2015).
To note, over 2015 electric power generation in Armenia grew only by 0.6% and totaled 7798.2 mln kWh and in December alone by 9%. In 2015 thermal power plants decreased the output by 14.8%, while the hydro power plants increased the electricity output by 10.7%. The Armenian Nuclear Power Plant increased the output by 13.1%. Thermal power generation grew by 10.4%.
