ArmInfo. The General Department of Investigation of Major Cases of the Armenian Investigative Committee has completed the pre-trial investigation of the case over embezzlement at the Electric Networks of Armenia (ENA) CJSC.
As the Investigative Committee's press office has told ArmInfo, the proofs received in the course of investigation demonstrate that from August 1, 2012 till August 1, 2015 the real electricity amount supplied to ENA CJSC by Sirarpi small-scale hydropower plant (owned
by Sirarpi AG LLC) was presented in overstated amount.
According to the pre-trial investigation, in June 2011 Sirarpi concluded a contract on electricity supply with ENA CJSC. The specified small-scale hydropower plant was built by Sirarpi AG, whose director was the wife of deputy director of ENA CJSC Arsen Gabrielyan. On 18 August 2012, the devices of Sirarpi SHPP was replaced with new ones, which enabled remote control, changing the real indicators of the electricity supplied to ENA CJSC.
A comprehensive analysis has revealed that the ex-head of the Automated Electricity Metering Department of ENA CJSC, Rudik Pivazyan (his department metered the electricity purchased from the generating facilities), was directly involved in this case according to a
preliminary collusion with deputy sales director Arsen Gabrielyan. As a result of outside interference, 3.810.188 kWh electricity worth 95.694.000 AMD was presented and ENA completely paid this amount to Sirarpi AG LLC. Arsen Gabrielyan and Rudik Pivazyan face charges under Article 178.3.1 of the Armenian Criminal Code (theft of extremely large amounts of money). The criminal case with the crime sheet has been sent to the court, the source says.
