ArmInfo. By May 2016, only 832 citizens (15.6% year-over-year growth) or 0.8% of the total number of job-seekers managed to find a job in Armenia. As of that date, there were 94.8 thsd job-seekers in Armenia (up 16.2% versus the same period of 2015).
The National Statistical Service of Armenia reports that by May 2016 the number of the registered unemployed citizens totaled 80.7 thsd (up 8.7%), including 54.7 thsd women (up 5.6%) and 25.9 thsd men (up 15.8%).
Yerevan took the lead in terms of unemployment - 14 thsd citizens. Shirak, Lori and Kotayk provinces rank next - 13.8 thsd, 11.1 thsd and 8.3 thsd.
By May 2016, there were 1997 vacancies (up 19.8%) - 47 people per vacancy (up 4.1%).
By the updated forecast of the Central Bank of Armenia (CBA), in 2016 unemployment will make up 18.1% (versus 18.2% forecasted for 2015), with further annual reduction by 0.2% in 2017-2018. In 2016, the wages will not be raised. Over the past three years, unemployment in Armenia grew from 16.2% to 18.5%: in 2015 - 18.5%, in 2014 - 17.6%, in 2013 - 16.2%.
