ArmInfo. Armenia increased export of horticultural crops 1.7-fold to 85,326 tons as of August 8 2016, according to Deputy Minister of Agriculture Robert Makaryan.
Talking to journalists today, the deputy minister said demand for procurement of vegetables is about 71,282 tons this year (including 47,780 tons of tomatoes) and for procurement of horticultural crops is 26,808 tons (including 6,472 tons of apples, 5,334 tons of peaches, 7,640 tons of apricots and 7,362 tons of others crops).
Makaryan said the processing enterprises procured 1,972 tons of vegetables as of August 9, including 1,075 tons of tomatoes, as well as 10,224 tons of horticultural crops, including 6,455 tons of apricots and 1,036 tons of berries.
According to the reports of the Customs Service of Armenia, export of tomatoes increased 5.7-fold in 2015 to 1,254.4 tons (versus 217.7 tons in 2014). Export of apricots and other horticultural crops totaled 23,503 tons (versus 5,812.7 tons in 2014) with a 4-fold growth.
