ArmInfo. Deposits with the Armenian banks increased 14% year- over-year to 2.092trillion drams as of Sept 2016, according to the National Statistics Service.
The national dram (AMD) deposits grew by 5.6% to 1.379tln AMD, while forex deposits grew by 5.6% to 1.379tln AMD. The share of forex deposits in the total amount of bank deposits traditionally prevails over the share of AMD deposits - 67% and 33%, respectively.
The share of residents in total deposits was 77.7% or 1.626trillion AMD (15.2% year-over-year growth), while the share of non-residents was 22.3% or 466.8 bln AMD (12.9% year-over-year growth).
Call deposits of residents accounted for 28.5% or 464bln drams of total, while time deposits accounted for 71.5% or 1.2tln drams of total. Call and time deposits increased 11.7% and 15/7% year over year, respectively.
Private deposits with Armenian banks have exceeded 1tln drams as of September 2016, with 10.5% y-o-y growth. By statistical data, in average the interest on deposits in terms of the national dram was 12.04% in August 2016 versus 12.26% a year ago.
