ArmInfo. Armenia's Agriculture Minister Ignatiy Arakelyan discussed with Vassilis Maragos, Head of Unit, Regional Programmes, Neighborhood East, prospects of cooperation in the field of agriculture.
The Agriculture Minister noted the importance of the programs implemented by the EU in agricultural field. According to him the field still faces problems and Armenia expects assistance from EU in their solving.
According to the EU representative the Union plans to further provide assistance to Armenia in the field of agriculture. Maragos stated that the areas, which are of high priority for Armenia, should be specified.
In this context Arakelyan mentioned that re-crediting, development of cattle breeding and cooperatives, programs of subsidies, as well as improvement of the procurement procedures for processing plants are perspective for the field.
The members of the European delegation assured that the presented proposals will be studied in details and if possible will be involved in the assistance programs. If there is a necessity the Armenian side will be provided with consulting assistance as well.
