ArmInfo. Armenia plans to develop a complex project for micro plants popularization. This was stated by Hayk Harutyunyan, the Deputy Minister of Energetic Infrastructures and Natural Resources of Armenia at the press conference held on November 23. According Deputy Minister, many things are already done to stimulate the field. But at this stage, as Harutyunyan stated, a need occurresto develop a clear program, assuming an installation of solar panel on every roof in Yerevan. "The aim of the Government is to produce energy right at the point of its consumption," Harutyunyan stated.
Following the official, the public aware in respect to the implementation of this project is very important. "We work on creation of such conditions that could make any private house owning family think that the solar panel installation is logical and optimal," Deputy Minister stated. The Deputy Minister presented the efficiency of the solar energy panels on his own example: " I have mounted such an equipment on the roof of my house and it is already 2,5 months I produce my energy myself," he stated. According Harutyunyan, currently there are around 10 importers of solar panels in Armenia, as well as a number of available loan sources. The pay back period of this equipment is from 6 to 10 years. As Deputy Minister clarified, the average monthly consumption of a family is 200-250 kWt. The annual indicator reaches 2400 kWt. To supply 2400 kWt it is necessary to have 1,5 kWt capacity panel. The price of such a panel is around USD 1000. During recent months the price dropped down for 20-25%. The main feature of the project is that there is no need to by an additional battery, because the Electric Networks of Armenia JSC bears a liability to purchase household power. "Hence, the network becomes a free of charge source," Harutyunyan stated.
