ArmInfo. Shirak Airport in Gyumri has reduced tariff on air navigation service for 50% aiming to attract the first and as of now the only air carrier-Pobeda airline.
The press-service of the State Department of Civil Aviation informs that this decision derives from the program of airport development and is aimed at increasing its attractiveness. "The goal of the program is to increase interest of airline companies in the Armenian regional airport as well as raise economic activity in northern part of the country", the statement of the Department reads. It also notes that all the air carries that would like to carry out flights from the airport will enjoy reduced tariffs.
To note, Pobeda airline has already launched sales of tickets for flights to Moscow, Vnukovo airport from Gyumri-Shirak airport. Starting from December 15 low-cost "Pobeda" airline company will launch flights to Shirak airport in Gyumri three times a week-Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday.
Prime Minister Karen Karapetyan stated on October 20 that the Armenian government intends to re-launch the airport in Gyumri. According to him the government will hold negotiations with a number of low-cost companies for this reason.
