ArmInfo. During nearest two months in construction works will start in Armenia on free economic zone with Iran, Suren Karayan, the Minister of Economic Development and Investments, stated to journalists on March 16.

Earlier Hadim Mohsen Arab Bagi, the Director General of Aras free zone new project (on the border between Armenia, Iran and Azerbajan) stated that Aras has a good resource for joint commercial projects with Armenia. He called Armenian entrepreneurs to visit it and to learn about economic facilities of the zone. Aras free economic zone is the largest in iran and occupies 52 ha surface. It is 380 km far from Yerevan .
Earlier Iran Daily referring to the trade representative of Russia in Iran Andrey Luganski stated that during the visit of Iranian president Hassan Rouhani to Russian in the end of this month the Parties will discuss the issue of free economic zone establishment between Eurasian Economic Union (EEU) and Iran. Meanwhile, the Diplomat stated an opinion that Iran intends to export fruit and vegetables to Russia , which is a point of concerns for Russia, because the tax free import of such products could create a competition with local goods.
During the meetings with his Iranian counterparts, Armenian Deputy Minister offered to Iranian side to review the issue on creation of joint import-export company to support the export of goods, including the duty free markets. Iranian side encouraged this idea and offered to develop appropriate tools for implementation of it, the statement reads.
