Today, the State Committee for Tourism of the Republic of Armenia, in its tourism development policy, is not yet aiming to win new markets, but adheres to the principle of "Low hanging fruit". The head of the State Committee for Tourism of the Ministry of Economic Development and Investments of the Republic of Armenia Zarmine Zeituntsyan stated during a press conference on April 18.
"In other words, we intend to accurately develop and concentrate on one market, and only then to proceed to another one, that is what we are doing in direction of Russia", she explained.
In this light, Zeytuntsyan reported that on March 31 and April 1, an exhibition "Armenia - My Seventh Sense" was held in the pavilion at VDNKh, where the tourist product of Armenia and Artsakh was presented. "On the first day, we presented the peculiarities of short-term rest in Armenia, in particular, the national cuisine, songs and dances." On the second day, in 2-3 hours the number of visitors increased to 3,000," she said, adding that 34 Russian media outlets, including Komsomolskaya Pravda, MIA Russia today, Vesti Moscow, Mir, and others enlightened this event.
Zeytuntsyan said that during the visit to Russia a meeting with representatives of Rosturizm took place, as a result of discussions two agreements were reached. "Rosturizm obliged to the end of April to present the Armenian tourist product to Russian tour operators, as well as to organize a visit of Russian journalists and bloggers to Armenia," she said. At the same time, according to Zeytuntsyan, in May 2017. "Avto Plus" TV company will release two thirteen-minute films about Armenia that were shoot in March 2017 within the framework of their visit to Armenia.
Currently, according to her, negotiations are held on the presentation of the Armenian tour product in the program "Road-out Notes" with Dmitry Krylov on the First Russian Channel. At the same time, publication of a book about Armenia within the framework of an agreement with Russian editions of guidebooks and reference books (<Lonely Planet>, <Polyglot>, <Orange Guide>, etc.) is envisaged.
In particular, Zeytuntsyan said that the Armenian exhibition organizes the further route to St. Petersburg, Yekaterinburg, and other Russian cities, in the direction of which the direct flights are carried.
