November 23, 2016 Iran on the territory of Armenia received the first cargo on a new transit corridor from Europe. In the future, it is planned that this route will be replaced by one that passes through the territory of Turkey, because it turned out to be both safe and economical. The cost of cargo transportation through the new route through Armenia was lower by 1-2% compared to the Turkish direction. Within the framework of the multimodal transportation project, it is planned to arrange the receipt of Iranian cargo by road to Armenia (Yeraskh), from where it is transported by rail to the Georgian ports on the Black Sea.
