ArmInfo. On May 29, the Armenian Prime Minister Karen Karapetyan received the Executive Director of the Eastern Committee of the German Economy, Michael Harms. The Committee is an organization representing the leading business associations of the German economy.
As the press service of the Armenian government told ArmInfo, Karapetyan noted that Germany is an important partner for Armenia, and is interested in developing bilateral relations in different fields. According to the prime minister, the Armenian government is carrying out reforms aimed at improving the business environment, creating favorable conditions for foreign investments and is ready to discuss any mutually beneficial initiatives aimed at boosting trade and economic relations.
In his turn, Harms welcoming the initiative of the government towards improving the business environment and expressed readiness to assist in the development of relations between Yerevan and Berlin in the economic sphere, using all possible platforms.
The interlocutors exchanged views on the prospects for implementing joint programs in such areas as energy, mining, agriculture, tourism and infrastructure.
According to the National Statistical Service of Armenia, Armenia-Germany foreign trade turnover in January-December 2016 amounted to $ 325.6 million with an annual decline by 4.9%. Export amounted to $ 138.9 million, with an annual decline by 0.9%, imports - $ 186.7% with an annual decline by 7.6%.
