ArmInfo. The first harvest of apricot from a garden, established in 2016 in the Shorzha community of Gegharkunik region of Armenia in 10 hectares, is expected to be received in the third year. Minister of Agriculture Ignat Arakelyan informed about it, on the eve of the visit of the farmer, the co-founder of the garden Suliko Shushanyan.
According to the press service of the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Armenia, Shushanian informed the minister that a full-fledged harvest of the traditional Armenian apricot is scheduled to begin to be received from the fifth year. The co-founder also stressed that irrigation of the garden is carried out by the drop method, which leads to an effective result. He informed that within the framework of the state program of assistance in acquiring agricultural machinery the company purchased several units of equipment. Shushanyan considers this program to be very important and necessary.
In his turn, the Minister of Agriculture, passing through the garden, expressed his hope that the foundation of the apricot garden can serve as a signal for the establishment of such gardens, since all the prerequisites for obtaining a high-quality harvest are available, which is the basis for ensuring high profitability.
