Ministry of Transport: Transport movement on the left side of Yerevan-Artashat bridge will be temporarily limited

ArmInfo. The traffic on the left side of the bridge of the Yerevan- Artashat highway will be temporarily limited.

As the press service of the Ministry of Transport, Communications and IT of Armenia reports, the movement will be limited to the left side of the bridge of Yerevan-Artashat highway (by 19 + 704 km).  "The restriction for all types of vehicles will be introduced for 12 hours from 08:30 on August 28 to eliminate the identified shortcomings from the contractor company during the warranty period," the report said. Road traffic on this section of the road will be organized in the middle.

Earlier, on July 13, after the meeting of the government, the Minister of Transport, Communications and Information Technologies Vahan Martirosyan stated that cracks were found on the section of the Yerevan- Artashat highway of the transport corridor "North-South". As the Minister stressed at the time, the contract for maintenance with the construction company of the Spanish "Corsan Corviam" was not completed, and the Ministry of Transport demanded restoration. The day before, during the final press conference, Martirosyan said that in the first ten days of October, 3 of the 7 bridges in the Yerevan-Artashat section will be commissioned, the remaining 4 will be continued with additional work, as under the new program their road surface and access roads are asphalted again ways to them. The minister recalled that, ahead of schedule, the movement under the indicated bridges was opened, and the works were conducted without restriction of movement.

To note, during the yesterday's meeting with journalists, Vahan Martirosyan said that according to current calculations, the construction of the entire 556-kilometer North-South motorway stretching from Bavra to Meghri will cost more than $ 2 billion, since its only southern section, between the cities Artashat and Meghri, according to preliminary estimates, will cost $ 1.5 billion. Meanwhile, five years ago, in September 2012, when the construction of the highway began, the amount called by representatives of the Armenian government was more than half that of $ 962 million. For today, from $ 150 million spent, $ 70 million was spent on the construction of 31 km. The rest of the funds was used for excavation work on the Ashtarak-Talin and Talin-Gyumri sections. Also, work was carried out on concreting the road at 11 km.
