ArmInfo. The sphere of information technologies of Armenia reached 35% growth. RA Minister of Transport, Communications and Information Technologies Vahan Martirosyan said on September 27 on the fields of the global high-tech forum ArmTech 2017, timed to cybersecurity.
"The annual growth of the sphere on average is 20-25%. This year we already have a 35% growth. We expect that during the next 5 years the Armenian IT sector will provide higher growth rates," the minister said, noting that Armenia has exceeded the average indicator on the growth rates of information technology in the international arena.
V. Martirosyan stipulated a 35% increase in the expansion of international cooperation, attracting foreign investments, which is of a continuing nature.
Speaking about cyber security, the Transport Ministry noted that a corresponding strategy is being developed. "A systematic struggle against cyberattacks is being conducted, but 100% protection is not possible due to the fact that technologies are rapidly developing, which are actively used by both the state and the intruders. This is an ongoing process," he said.
To note, the head of the Armenian office of the US Agency for International Development (USAID) Deborah Grieser also spoke during the forum, which shared the main indicators presented in the Global Risks Report (2015) at the World Economic Forum. So, according to her, the annual damage that the global economy receives from cyber attacks is about $ 400 billion. D. Grieser noted that over 90% of companies are not protected and are not ready for cyberattacks. Fraudsters systematically attack about 3,000 businesses in the United States annually. Therefore, the whole world today is in search of good solutions to protection tools. And Armenia is not an exception in this respect. " At the same time, the head of the Armenian office expressed confidence that ArmTech 2017 will help to find approaches that will enhance cybersecurity in Armenia.
ArmTech 2017 is aimed at supporting the high-tech industry of Armenia by developing international business ties and increasing investments. The main topics of discussion are problems and strategies of cyber security, cyber threats and opportunities for protection in the private and public sectors, the Internet, artificial intelligence, automation, etc. It is expected that ArmTech 2017 will attract more than 200 participants. The organizers of the forum are the RA Ministry of Transport, Communication and Information Technologies and the Enterprise Incubator Foundation.
